A fun family Camping holiday in Devon from 1969

This standard 8 vintage home movie was taken during a family camping holiday in Devon in 1969 and show typical family scenes in the Devon Countryside, on the beach and at the campsite.

About the Camping Holiday film.

The film is one of a number which I bought from eBay in a bulk purchase a couple of months ago. It is an Agfa, standard 8 film in the distinctive Agfa orange reel, is generally in good condition after the first few feet, and scanned well during the transfer to digital.

There is a word of indistinguishable writing on a paper label stuck to the reel which is probably the film’s location, but I could certainly make out the number 1969, which supplied the year the film was shot. The other thing I could make out was the number 28 which suggests the photographer was a keep cinematographer who kept lots of family records.

The following still images from the film give a taster as to the contents of the full film.

Although I couldn’t make out the name of the precise location, I could work out it was in Devon because of the shots which show ‘Ye olde Globe Inn‘. A bit on internet research soon found the building, which looks almost exactly the same now as it did in 1969.

The film is a typical home movie from the 1960s which was taken by one of the adults to record happy family times with the children. There are scenes of a small boy playing with ducks and geese and feeding the ducks with his mum, and then shots taken around the camp site and on the beach. I remember my dad taking very similar film when by brother, sister and I were small.
